Klitschko and Fury go head-to-head on TV before their big fight

Wladimir Klitschko and Tyson Fury got involved in a war of words when they were on a TV interview before their World Heavyweight Championship fight scheduled for 28th Nov, 2015, in Germany. Finally, it was Tyson’s verbal jabs which seemed to have got a lot of attention to a smiling yet bewildered Wladimir.

Tyson Fury, boasting his changes to win, said that in Germany, the world would change as they would have the most charismatic, most colorful and the most controversial heavyweight champ since the days of Muhammad Ali. The world has been waiting for this day quite long. The world needs me to change the landscape of the division.

“I’m so worried,” replied Klitschko in a sarcastic manner. The show called ‘Klitschko vs Fury:The Gloves Are Off’ was hosted by Johnny Nelson, the former world cruiserweight champion Johnny Nelson. The show was shot before the champ from Ukraine pulled out of the original date of 24th October because of a calf injury.

During the show, Fury, sporting a flamboyant checked suit, eerily predicted that Wladimir would withdraw. He said, “I’ve got to ease off you now. I remember when I put it on David Haye strong with heavy talking twice, he pulled out. So I’d better back off in case Wladimir Klitschko gets the jitters and doesn’t turn up.”

Meanwhile, Wladimir Klitschko, who holds a PhD in sports science, told his opponent that he was “an experienced therapist”. If you want to have a bet on Klitschko vs Fury, look out for our pre-match preview which will feature all the latest odds and opinion.

Mark Hunt looking to be aggressive with title match in hindsight

The main event for the recent UFC fight night is going to be Mark Hunt versus Roy Nelson. The 39 year old Mark Hunt will be out to prove his might yet again. He is a favorite among the Australian crowd. The Super Samoan as he calls himself has been known for his strength and ability to fight back from whatever position he might be in. He created sensation as he burst into the scene by defeating veteran MMA fighter Wanderlei Silva. Jose Aldo to take on Mendes in October

Chad Mendes will finally get his shot at the Ultimate Fighting Championship or UFC Featherweight Championship, but he will have to travel all the way up to Brazil for that.

In a recent announcement, UFC boss Dana White confirmed that Mendes will take on the UFC Featherweight champion Jose Aldo at Rio de Janeiro on the 25th of October in the main event of UFC 179.

Aldo was scheduled to defend his title against Mendes in the main event of UFC 176 on August 2nd but the entire event had to be scrapped after the Brazilian suffered a spine and neck injury while preparing for the event. White had recently confirmed that Junior would be able to return within 45 days and that has clearly been the message given out with this new booking.

Jose Aldo has a record of 24-1 in his professional career and has already beaten Mendes in a knockout win back in 2012 in Brazil. Since that win over Mendes, he has also defended the title three times and will go into the fight as the overwhelming favourite.

Mendes, on the other hand, has taken five successive wins since that loss to Aldo and most recently defeated Nick Lentz via a unanimous decision back in December to earn a shot at the title.

The Brazilian, who hasn’t suffered defeat since 2005, will be looking to improve his record even further with another win over his old enemy as he looks to leave the Featherweight division to move up a weight class to Lightweight and challenge for the UFC Lightweight Championship, but that is still up for debate whether Jose Aldo wants to do that right now considering he turned down the chance once, despite claiming that he nothing more to offer to the 145 lbs. weight category of the UFC.

Georges St-Pierre will undergo knee surgery to repair torn ACL

A swift return to action from self exile seems quite uncertain at the moment for Georges St Pierre post his injury. The ex Ultimate Fight Championship welterweight champion announced it recently that he has faced injury during training and has torn his ACL, which will require further surgery in order to repair it.

This message from the champion was updated in his Facebook page, where he acknowledged that he had faced the injury only in the last week; however he intends to return in full form post the surgery. Post confirmation from his surgeon about this surgery he immediately declared the information saying that surgery will follow in a few days, post which he will be going into rehab.  Talking about his surgery he sounded optimistic focusing that challenges come and go in everybody’s life and he knows very well how he wants to deal with it, through hard work and paid and there are absolutely no shortcuts to it. He assured that he will so be back to his old 100% perfect form in no time at all. He further asked his supporters to stay tuned and thanked them for their continuous support during his tough time.

Since his narrow win over Johny Hendricks in November, St-Pierre hasn’t participated in a single fight. However post his win, the champion announced that he wishes to surrender the belt, to take some time off from fighting.

Next during the UFC 171 Hendricks bagged the title by defeating Robbie Lawler in early March and hence became the undisputed champion in the welterweight segment.

Regardless of the fact that St-Pierre willingly gave away the winning belt, Dana White, the UFC president feel that the champion will be back to action in no time at all.

BJ Penn return against Edgar

Legendary Ultimate Fighting Championship or UFC fighter BJ Penn will always be remembered as one of the early greats of Mixed Martial Arts, one of the men who made the UFC the money spinning machine it is today. He is the only man in the promotion to have held the UFC Lightweight Championship as well as the UFC Welterweight Championship, becoming only the second man in the history of the sport to hold two titles in the promotion simultaneously.

Yet, having had one of the greatest careers in the promotion, the Hawaiian native still isn’t quite ready to rest on his laurels and is already booked for another match in the promotion, this time as a Featherweight.

He will take on his arch nemesis Frankie Edgar, the first man to beat him in the Lightweight division in eight years. BJ Penn suffered a close decision loss to The Answer back at UFC 112 as he lost the UFC Lightweight Championship belt before surrendering meekly to Edgar in the rematch at UFC 118 later that same year.

Having not fought for over a year and suffered four losses in his last six bouts, many questioned why Penn needed to come back again, especially since his list of achievements in the sport is greater than many.

Penn finally broke his silence on the matter and in a recent interview, stated that he wanted another bout with Frankie Edgar, adding that he believes he could do a lot better than he managed to do during the second bout he had with Edgar.

With the fight scheduled to take place in Featherweight, BJ Penn will have to drop down to 145 lbs and take on a fighter who has not only beaten him twice but has had two fights at that category as well.
